- Ben Wright, International golf writer and television commentator
& designer of Cliffs Valley Golf Course

Finca Cortesin Hotel, Golf & Spa

This luxurious (lavish is probably a better word), 67-room boutique resort is simply
stunning. Nestled between the towering coastal mountains and the tranquil Mediterranean 35 minutes from Marbella, this gem of a five-star property opened in the Fall of 2009 and immediately was named to Conde Nast Traveler's 2009 "Hot List” of new hotels and resorts. The 70-acre property is designed for peace and quiet and features both Andalusian and Moorish design influences. On property are three restaurants, an indoor bar and an outdoor terrace for drinks and gourmet tapas, a 23,000 square-foot spa, two pools and a fully-equipped fitness center.

Golf Course Descriptions

Costa del Sol/Valderrama: Valderrama is literally a legend in mainland Europe, having hosted the 1997 Ryder Cup, the World Golf Championship and a number of Volvo Masters tournaments. This Robert Trent Jones, Sr. gem is a must-play for the serious golf enthusiast touring the Costa del Sol. One can easily be distracted by the spectacular scenery and mesmerizing cork oaks that line the fairways, but this course demands your undivided attention. Measure yourself against the best players in the world as you tackle the infamous 17th. European golf at its very best! Maximum handicap: 24 Men; 36 Women. www.valderrama.com/

Costa del Sol/Finca Cortesin:Another newcomer to the Costa del Sol, Finca Cortesin opened in early 2007 and is quickly
making a name for itself as one of the best courses in all of Spain. This Cabell Robinson design offers a challenging variety
of holes, as evidenced by the scenic par-4 13th that confronts the player with two water hazards, yet soothes with an
eye-pleasing green complex. As bonuses, the routing remains largely unspoiled by development, the modern practice
facility is quite extensive and the customer service is among the best we have encountered in all of Spain. To top it off, new,
5-star resort accommodations have opened on property, greatly enhancing overnight options for the area. We suggest that
you play this one before the word gets out! Maximum Handicap: 32 Men; 36 Women. Buggy recommended.

Barcelona/RCG El Prat:Located 30 minutes west of Barcelona, this Greg Norman-designed 45-hole complex is
private, but accessible to CORK & TEE travelers. As all of the nines were designed and constructed simultaneously by
the same architect, players can forge ten distinct 18-hole combinations that fit together seamlessly. As expected from
Norman, most fairways are reasonably wide, but trouble lurks beyond their borders and approach shots challenge your
iron skills. You will feel like a member for a day when you experience Real Club de Golf El Prat. www.rcgep.com/

Provence/Terre Blanche (Le Chateau Course): Renowned designer Dave Thomas fashioned this CORK & TEE
hidden gem from the foothills of Provence, allowing the land to guide the routing. The result is a demanding, but fair
test of more than 7,200 yards from the back tees that is a favorite among the PGA European Tour professionals when
they are in the area. Wildlife abounds among the mature pines that border the fairway corridors -- don't be surprised to
see signs of wild boar that have been roaming the property at night. Golf doesn't get much better than this in
Continental Europe! Buggy Mandatory.www.terre-blanche.com/
